2. What made the item of interest to you?

This item interested me because you don't hear a lot about Italy, or at least I don't.

  1. Summarize the item:

Early on a Monday morning an earthquake struck Italy hard. It had a magnitude of 6.3. People living in Rome even felt shakes when the earthquake was in L'Aquila. Many people were injured or killed and now many people are now homeless. They still won't know how many total are dead for a couple of days.

Who? (Who is the article about?)

This article is about the many people who were involved in the earthquake and what happened to them.

What? (What exactly happened? USE PLENTY OF DETAILS!)

The people of L'Aquila were awakened early Monday morning at 3:30 a.m. by a massive earthquake. Even people living 60 miles away in Rome felt the shakes and tremors from the earthquake. Once everyone felt the tremors they all ran outside fro safety. A lot of the buildings were extremely damaged or crumbled. This earthquake has left more than 50,000 people homeless. Rescue teams are trying to save the people trapped in the rubble on the buildings but don't want to use any machinery because one wrong move could lead to people dying. Officials place the death toll 92 but no one will know for sure for a couple days.

When? (When did this EVENT take place?)
